We just finished shooting a fashion editorial layout for Virginia Bride Magazine in one of my dream locations, Swannanoa Castle. For those who don’t know the location, it is on top of Afton Mountain. An Italian villa originally built by James Dooley as a summer retreat. Over the years the property has passed hands and is now slowly getting a face lift. If you know the right names and numbers to call, the grounds may be rented for weddings.
So we all piled into cars and headed up the mountain. Bright sunshine but a brisk wind made for a little chill inside the castle. Chill meaning that at times you could see your breath or was there another reason for those strange cold spots we encountered. All I know is that this location cast a spell upon you the moment you lay eyes on it. Love at first sight but then sadness for the time it has lain dormant.
We had a great time and loads of stories to tell. Even more important are the amazing bridal fashion images we captured.
